MID-SINGLES BEACH TRIP TO STINSON BEACH

We're so excited to host our first activity as the newly reorganized east bay regional mid-singles committee comprising 7 stakes! Hank has graciously volunteered to lead the full Mt Tam hike. So for those interested in joining him, please be there at 1pm. We will start the 1/2 hike from Pantoll Station at 2pm. So please plan to be there at 1:30pm, as we will start to shuttle people up to the station then. Both hikes are incredibly beautiful and well worth the sweat! There is only one way into the Stinson Beach Parking lot, so follow the signs. There is no charge to park there and we hope to secure a place near the entrance. For those who want to hang at the beach, we're planning a sandcastle competition and other beach activities. If you have small children, there are great tide-pools worth exploring. So bring your favorite beach toys. We will start our BBQ at 5pm. We will provide the burgers, hotdogs, and beverages. Please bring a snack or side dish to share. Dress in layers. Hikers might want to bring extra water to stay hydrated during the hike. We can't wait to see you this Saturday!! So please come join us, because it won't be any fun without you!

"ALL HANDS ON DECK"

The S.S. Red Oak is a WWII Victory Ship located in Richmond California

AUGUST 14th, 2010

The Oakland Stake Singles 30+ are sponsoring a service project on the SS Red Oak, a World War II Victory ship that carried supplies and equipment for the troops serving overseas in WWII. This ship was built in 1944 in the Richmond Ship Yard and is now in the process of being restored to operational condition. We have the opportunity to be a part of her historic reconditioning. We will help in straitening up, cleaning and odd jobs around the ship. There will be plenty of time to explore the ship and the many displays in the on board Museum. Afterwards there will be Free Hot Dogs, chips and soft drinks for everyone helping out. We also plan to show the movie The Forgotten Voyage following lunch. This movie is about the Mormons Sailing out of New York in 1846 to California. Come and be a part of the crew for a great day on board a great ship that served her country well. We will be meeting on board at 10:00 am, Lunch at 12:00 noon and movie to follow. For more information please contact Richard Green at 925-586-8428.
